Embattled Brooklyn Assemblyman William Boyland Jr. unveiled a new maxim on his personal Facebook page as he and his chief of staff face a new round of bribery charges. Over the weekend, Assemblyman Boyland Jr. replaced his profile picture on the site with a note reading: "I am too positive to be doubtful. Too Optimistic to be fearful. And too determined to be defeated."
So far, Assemblyman Boyland Jr. has lived up to his Facebook motto. Last month, he was acquitted of taking a no-show job with a hospital company in exchange for political favors. Three weeks later, Assemblyman Boyland Jr. was arrested on a new round of quarter million dollar bribery charges along with his chief of staff.
Assemblyman Boyland Jr. is heir to a powerful political dynasty based in Brownsville and a dedicated social media enthusiast. In July, an investigation by City and State found Assemblyman Boyland Jr. spent copious amounts of time playing the Facebook game CityVille during Assembly sessions.
